When does the University of Pittsburgh take senior portraits?
I’ve heard there are separate sessions through the first part of the year, but it’s already getting close to July, and I haven’t received any information regarding it yet. Any suggestions?

Some tips for doing my own senior portraits?
I’m doing my own senior portraits this year, to save a lot of money. I have a digital SLR and a few prime lenses ideal for portraits. I may end of doing some of my friends’ pictures as well; I have a flickr account, and some of my classmates have complimented me on my photography, especially praising what few portraiture shots I took.
Do most general rules-of-thumb for portraiture carry over when shooting a set of senior pictures? Is it good to include props? And what about backgrounds and backdrops?
If you have any tips or suggestions for how to take a great senior picture, in much of the same way that professional photographers do, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!

How would I get signatures from paper onto the yearbook pages to put underneath the senior portraits?
I’m on the yearbook team for high school this year and my job is to get the signatures from all of the seniors that are graduating, scan them in, and get them on the pages under their senior portraits.
We’ve never done this before but I’ve seen it, so I know it’s possible.
What kind of paper would I use? What kind of template? How do I photoshop everything else out? What is the best and most time efficient way to do this?
Thank you!

WHY do students take senior portraits?
Hi,
I’m a senior and I DO NOT UNDERSTAND why we have to take portraits senior year. I mean, my school makes us go to this really expensive place (which charges 28 dollars just to take 6 poses of 1 outfit) in order for us to have our yearbook photos taken. But I’m wondering…
WHY DO SENIORS HAVE TO TAKE PORTRAITS? I don’t really care about these portraits – I’d rather not take them at all. I don’t see the point in doing this. I’m visiting China soon and they do really nice pictures for a fraction of the cost. What do people DO with these portraits anyways?

Need ideas for non-traditional senior portraits?
I’m a senior this year, but for my senior portraits I don’t want the traditional vineyard, beach, brickwall, green screen background, etc. I want something that is non-traditional and upbeat and different.
Any ideas?

Should I dye my hair purple for the start of senior year?
I want to kick off my senior year with a bang. I want to dye my hair purple after I have my senior portraits in August. I have chin length dark brown, almost black hair. I think it would be pretty cool. My brother’s fiance said I’d have to bleach my hair first, so what is the best bleach and dye to do the job? Not too expensive, under .
HmMm….I don’t care about who likes me and who dosen’t. I want to do this for me, not so people will like me. If they think I did to play cool, they are too shallow to be my friends anyway.
Amanda…seniors at my school get senior portraits at the local studio during the summer before senior year starts, so that’s why I am waiting until late August. I won’t ruin my pics!
